A.J. Brown Trade Calls Reportedly Rejected by Eagles' Howie Roseman in NFL Offseason

The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly shot down trade inquiries into star wide receiver A.J. Brown this past offseason.

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, teams were "poking around" Brown during the offseason, but Eagles general manager Howie Roseman told them, "No dice."

Brown, 28, is a three-time Pro Bowler who recently began his seventh NFL season and his fourth as a member of the Eagles.

After three seasons with the Tennessee Titans, Brown was traded to the Eagles in 2022 for first- and third-round picks.

That deal paid immediate dividends for the Eagles, as Brown reached the 1,400-yard mark and earned Pro Bowl nods in each of his first two seasons in Philly, while building a rapport with quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Brown's Pro Bowl streak came to an end last season, but he still managed 67 receptions for 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns despite missing four games due primarily to a hamstring injury.

On top of that, Brown had 12 catches for 163 yards and two touchdowns in four playoff games for an Eagles team that won the Super Bowl.

Despite the success of Brown and the Eagles as a whole last season, it didn't stop trade speculation from popping up.

Late in the 2024 regular season, Brown expressed his belief that the Eagles' passing game was a problem after Hurts threw for just 108 yards in a six-point win over the Carolina Panthers.

Then, in March, even after the Eagles won the Super Bowl, Brown fired off a series of since-deleted X posts in which he called Eagles fans "messy," noting that it was "like high school all over again."

Despite that, there was no movement on a Brown trade, and he is under contract through 2029 after signing a three-year, $96 million extension last year on top of the four-year, $100 million deal he signed in 2022.

Brown's 2025 season did not get off to an ideal start, though, as he finished with just one catch for eight yards in a 24-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

Hurts favored a short-yardage passing attack in the game, going 19-of-23 for 152 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. No wide receiver had more than three catches for the Eagles, as tight end Dallas Goedert led the way with seven receptions, followed by running back Saquon Barkley with four.

If the Eagles continue to employ that type of offensive strategy moving forward, it may be worth monitoring Brown and his happiness level leading up to the Nov. 4 trade deadline.
