Cowboys HC Reveals CeeDee Lamb's Message After 3 Drops in Week 1 Loss to Eagles

Adam WellsSep 12, 2025

After taking he blame for the Dallas Cowboys' season-opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, CeeDee Lamb has channeled that energy into preparations for Week 2.

Speaking on 105.3 The Fan on Friday, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer revealed the message that Lamb gave the coaching staff in the wake of his drops against the Eagles.

"All that did, bro, was wake up a monster," Lamb said, according to Schottenheimer.

Despite finishing with a game-high seven receptions and 110 yards, Lamb was also charged with three drops in the 24-20 loss on Sept. 4.

The second one, in particular, was crushing because it hit him right in the hands for what would have been a gain of close to 40 yards and put the Cowboys deep in Eagles territory right before the two-minute warning.

After the Cowboys returned to Dallas early in the morning on Sept. 5, an online video showed Lamb on the practice field alone catching passes from a JUGS machine a few hours later.

Lamb told reporters on Thursday the video "wasn't supposed to go viral" because he didn't do it for the internet, but he was doing what he thought was important to get "back to my fundamentals."

According to Schottenheimer, Lamb was also running routes alone on Sunday. If the biggest problem for the Cowboys this season is their No. 1 receiver, they are going to be fine.

Things are set up nicely for Lamb to have a big performance in Week 2. The Cowboys are at home against the New York Giants. Lamb has 859 receiving yards in 10 career games against the Giants, his most versus a single opponent.
