Jayden Daniels Doesn't Think Commanders Should Hit 'Panic Button' After Packers Loss

Adam WellsSep 12, 2025

Jayden Daniels isn't concerned about the long-term outlook for the Washington Commanders after a tough 27-18 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Daniels said no one in the Commanders' locker room should hit the "panic button" right now.

"It's nothing to dwell about," Daniels said. "It's early in the season. I wouldn't expect anybody in this locker room to hit a panic button. We faced a really good team, and we came up short, so we move on to the next game."

Daniels added the Packers simply "played better than us."

The final score makes the game appear closer than it actually was. Green Bay had a 404-230 advantage in total yards and averaged nearly three more yards per play (6.4 to 3.5) than Washington.

Green Bay led 27-10 midway through the fourth quarter before Daniels threw a touchdown to Deebo Samuel.

This was a difficult spot for the Commanders to be in, going on the road four days after the season opener against an opponent generally regarded as one of the top Super Bowl contenders in the NFC.

The Packers have more than lived up to their billing thus far. They are off to a 2-0 start with those two victories over two teams that combined to win 27 games last season.

Adding Micah Parsons has taken Green Bay's defense to another level. That unit has allowed a total of 476 yards to the Commanders and Detroit Lions. Those two offenses combined to average 779.1 yards per game in 2024.

This was a good test for the Commanders against a top-tier team early in the season. Now, they know what they need to work on going forward as they look to get back to the postseason.

The Commanders will use their long week to prepare for a Week 3 showdown with the Las Vegas Raiders on Sept. 21.
