Dak Prescott Reveals Text to CeeDee Lamb After Cowboys WR Apologized for Drops in Loss

Andrew PetersSep 11, 2025

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott still has plenty of confidence in his star wide receiver despite a pair of late drops in last Thursday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

After CeeDee Lamb texted Prescott to apologize for the drops, Prescott revealed what he texted his teammate in response.

"I'm not going to stop throwing you the ball," Prescott told reporters on Thursday. "That's the game … nobody, me especially, I'm not going to lose confidence."

Lamb dropped three passes total in the 24-20 loss, two of which came in the fourth quarter. The most costly drop came in the final two minutes, when Lamb missed a diving catch and the Cowboys turned it over on downs.

"Man, that's terrible," he told reporters after the game. "Honestly, I feel like I can't point no finger at anybody else."

Lamb was still extremely impactful in the loss, hauling in seven receptions for 110 yards, but his drops are what will be remembered from the season opener.

Lamb certainly won't forget about the drops any time soon.

"Trust me, I've thought about it, I've dwelled on it," Lamb told reporters on Thursday. "I've done everything that you could possibly imagine about this game. For all those that feel like they feel worse about that game than me, you're absolutely wrong."

Though Lamb had a few mishaps last week, he's given Prescott plenty of reasons to trust him moving forward. The sixth-year receiver has recorded 1,000 or more yards in all but his rookie season, and he doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon.

Lamb is also already working to make sure the drops don't happen again. ESPN's Todd Archer reported Monday that Lamb was practicing on the Jugs machine on Friday, about eight hours after the Cowboys' return flight from Philadelphia at 5 a.m.

He'll have the chance to redeem himself on Sunday when Dallas takes on the New York Giants.
