Ravens' Lamar Jackson Won't Face NFL Discipline for Shoving Bills Fan on Video

Timothy RappSep 11, 2025

The NFL will not be taking disciplinary action against Lamar Jackson after he pushed away a Buffalo Bills fan who hit him and DeAndre Hopkins in the head on Sunday night.

"The matter has been addressed by the club and there is no further action from the league," NFL official Brian McCarthy said.

Instead, the league will defer to the Baltimore Ravens to handle the matter as they see fit.

"Our player's safety is of the utmost importance," a team official said in a statement. "We have spoken to Lamar, who understands the impact of the situation, about the incident. While we will keep internal matters private, we have implemented additional security protocols—both at home and on the road—to better protect our players and handle negative fan interactions moving forward."

While Jackson's reaction to being struck on the head and seeing his teammate struck on the head was understandable, he took the high road after the game and apologized.

"It just happened," he told reporters. "I got pushed. I'm like, 'What?' I wasn't even thinking about me being out there on the field. My apologies to him."

"Just chill next time," he added while discussing the fan who hit him. "You can talk trash and stuff but keep your hands to yourself."

Later in the game, Baltimore running back Derrick Henry was nearly struck by a water bottle after a 29-yard touchdown run.

"Stuff like that shouldn't be happening. It's not WWE," Jackson told reporters. "We're playing football out here. So just keep it to football. I know guys are going to talk trash. I know the opposing team is going to talk trash. Keep it that way. But keep your hands and keep your objects to yourself."

Head coach John Harbaugh said he understood Jackson's instinct to protect himself in that moment.

"It's unfortunate that you should even be in that situation," he told reporters. "I don't know how any of us would respond in that moment. I think it'd be something we'd probably be thinking about protecting ourselves. I do think that."
