Tyreek Hill Trade Reportedly Not Eyed by Dolphins, 'Zero Discussion' amid NFL Rumors
Despite a one-sided loss in Week 1 of the 2025 NFL regular season, the Miami Dolphins reportedly haven't received any trade calls on star wide receiver Tyreek Hill and aren't looking to move him.
During an appearance Thursday on Get Up, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter said the following about Hill and the Dolphins:
"There's been a lot of Tyreek Hill chatter, and a lot of Tyreek Hill speculation, and I know it will keep going on and on. Let's not let facts interfere with a good story. The facts are, the Dolphins haven't gotten any calls about Tyreek Hill. Zero. The facts are that the Dolphins are not looking to deal Tyreek Hill.
"Now, look, we're not idiots. We understand the Dolphins lost last week in an embarrassing fashion. They think they're gonna turn it around. But if they don't, obviously, there may be calls for Tyreek Hill as the trade deadline approaches in late October, early November. But as of today, today, zero, zero discussion about a Tyreek Hill trade, today. Could that change? Sure, absolutely. When teams lose, that changes the conversation, and things are always fluid. But Tyreek Hill, today, nothing."
After surprisingly missing the playoffs last season with an 8-9 record, the negative vibes carried over to this season for the Dolphins, as they suffered a 33-8 road loss to the Indianapolis Colts last weekend.
Schefter's report differed slightly from that of ESPN's Jeremy Fowler on Wednesday. While Fowler also reported that the Dolphins weren't interested in trading Hill, he added that the team did receive trade calls, only to rebuff them.
In Week 1 against the Colts, the Dolphins offense looked lost. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had one of his worst performances in recent memory, going 14-of-23 for 114 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
Although Hill was Tua's leading receiver in the defeat, he finished with only four catches for 40 yards and no touchdowns.
It was seemingly a carryover from last season when Hill's numbers dropped off a cliff following back-to-back career years.
Over Hill's first two seasons with Miami in 2022 and 2023, he reached the 1,700-yard receiving mark twice and was named a First Team All-Pro both years.
However, Hill managed only 81 receptions for 959 yards and six touchdowns last season, which was among the worst campaigns of his career statistically.
Although Hill started all 17 games, he reportedly suffered a wrist injury prior to the start of the 2024 season and played through it all year before undergoing offseason surgery.
While every indication is that he is now healthy, it is much less certain whether he is happy in Miami.
Following the Dolphins' season-ending loss to the New York Jets in 2024, Hill expressed frustration, telling reporters, "I'm out, bruh. It was great playing here but at the end of the day, I have to do what's best for my career."
Hill later apologized for his comments, and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, affirmed Hill's commitment to the Dolphins.
If the Dolphins' performance in Week 1 becomes a trend, it stands to reason that the feelings Hill expressed at the end of last season could resurface.
Even if Hill doesn't become a distraction, it is still possible he could become a trade option closer to the Nov. 4 trade deadline if the Dolphins are not in playoff contention at that point.
Hill, who is signed through next season, has long been one of the most dynamic offensive players in the NFL, earning eight Pro Bowl nods and five First Team All-Pro selections over his 10 seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and Dolphins.
When healthy and happy, Hill is a true difference-maker, and a trade involving him would have the potential to shift the balance of power in the NFL.
