49ers' Brock Purdy Reportedly Out 2-5 Weeks with 'Variant' of Turf Toe Injury
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is reportedly set to miss multiple games due to a toe injury suffered during the team's Week 1 win over the Seattle Seahawks.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Purdy is dealing with "a variant of turf toe" that is expected to keep him out for between two and five weeks:

Purdy's health was a major storyline after San Francisco's season-opening win over the Seahawks. Head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Wednesday that the quarterback was a "long shot" to play in the Week 2 game against the New Orleans Saints due to toe and shoulder injuries.
It was another injury concern for a team that also had George Kittle, Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings dealing with their own setbacks at the same time. Kittle and Aiyuk have already been ruled out for Week 2.
Purdy had an inconsistent season-opener against the Seahawks as he went 26-of-35 for 277 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also had 17 yards on five carries.
The 2023 Pro Bowler threw for 3,864 yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions last season for a 49ers team that also dealt with a number of injuries on the way to a 6-11 record.
With Purdy on the shelf, the 49ers will turn toward Mac Jones under center. Jones was a first-round pick of the New England Patriots during the 2021 NFL draft, although he was just 18-24 as a starter across three seasons with the AFC East team.
From there, he made seven starts in 2024 for the Jacksonville Jaguars when Trevor Lawrence was out and went 2-5 in those games.
While the 49ers will hope for more success than Jones had at his previous stops, they can at least take solace knowing he is an experienced option who can keep the offense afloat until Purdy is ready to return.
