Malik Nabers Was 'Sick to My Stomach' Watching His Game Film from Giants' Week 1 Loss

Scott PolacekSep 10, 2025

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers was not happy with his performance during his team's 21-6 Week 1 loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday.

"I went and looked at it a little bit, got frustrated again, turned it off," he told reporters Wednesday when discussing watching film of the game. "Sick to my stomach, just overall. Not even saying the whole team, just my game play.

"I'm going to start with mine first because I believe I'm a key part of this offense. So when I don't play right, the energy's not right."

Nabers finished with five catches for 71 yards in a solid-but-unspectacular performance, but the entire offense failed to get into the end zone.

Russell Wilson struggled under center at 17-of-37 for 168 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions, and the Giants averaged just 3.2 yards per carry on the ground. It was nowhere near enough to keep up with Jayden Daniels and the Commanders on the other side, which surely left fans asking questions in the aftermath.

One of those questions may have been when will rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart get an opportunity to play, but head coach Brian Daboll told reporters Monday the plan is to stick with Wilson for the Week 2 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

There will likely be a time when Dart, who was a first-round pick and is now a franchise cornerstone, will get an opportunity to play, but it will be up to Wilson and Nabers to get on the same page in the immediate future if things are going to quickly improve.

Nabers was a bright spot on last season's 3-14 team as a Pro Bowler with 109 catches for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. It was realistic to expect him to take a jump in 2025, especially since it is his second season in the league and he now has more experience at the NFL level.

Yet things didn't start out exactly as planned, which had the LSU product upset when he watched the film.
