Week 2 Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet for Sleepers in Deep Leagues
Week 1 brought a few surprises to the fantasy landscape, though we didn't see as many true sleepers emerge as we've seen in recent years. Managers looking for help on the waiver wire—especially at running back—probably aren't thrilled with this year's Week 2 options.
However, some players with flex potential are still available, even if the list isn't impressive.
Here, you'll find a look at the top sleepers likely to still be available on the wire, along with a close look at the top deep sleepers of the week. First, though, let's run down the top flex plays of Week 2.
All rankings and analysis are based on point-per-reception (PPR) scoring.

Deep Sleeper: Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
3 of 4.jpg)
Managers simply aren't likely to find a starter on the waiver wire this week, and high-end backups are few and far between. Pittsburgh Steelers running back Kenneth Gainwell is certainly an option for deeper leagues only.
Gainwell tallied just 23 scrimmage yards and had a fumble in Week 1, so it wasn't a spectacular Steelers debut. However, he was at least heavily involved in the game plan, which is often enough to justify a waiver claim.
None of Pittsburgh's backs had success on the ground against the New York Jets. While Jaylen Warren logged 11 carries, though, Gainwell was close behind with seven. He also recorded three receptions.
For now, Gainwell appears to be Pittsburgh's clear No. 2 back over rookie Kaleb Johnson. This week's matchup with the Seattle Seahawks isn't ideal, but Gainwell is worth, at least, grab-and-stash consideration. He's available in at least 98 percent of Yahoo and ESPN leagues.
Deep Sleeper: Tyquan Thornton, WR, Kansas City Chiefs
4 of 4.jpg)
In case you haven't heard, the Kansas City Chiefs are dealing with wide receiver issues once again. Rashee Rice is still out on suspension, while Xavier Worthy is sidelined by a shoulder injury he suffered in Week 1.
This makes Marquise Brown, who caught 10 passes in Kansas City's opener, a must-start for the foreseeable future. Tyquan Thornton is a deep sleeper that managers in larger leagues should consider.
Thornton, who was signed to the practice squad last November, had just two receptions in Week 1 but tallied 41 yards. He showed the ability to stretch the field, and if he and Patrick Mahomes can improve their chemistry, he could have starting flex value.
This week, he'll face a Philadelphia Eagles defense that allowed CeeDee Lamb to rack up 110 receiving yards in Week 1. Thornton is available in nearly all Yahoo and ESPN leagues.
