Christian Watson, Packers Reportedly Agree to $13.3M Contract Extension amid Injury
The Green Bay Packers and wide receiver Christian Watson have agreed to a one-year, $13.25 million contract extension, per ESPN's Adam Schefter, who provided more information.
Watson's a big-play threat who averaged 21.4 yards per catch last season over 15 games (620 yards and two touchdowns on 29 receptions). Unfortunately, Watson suffered a torn ACL in his right knee while running a route in the Packers' final regular season against the Chicago Bears last year.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Watson is currently on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list, so he'll miss at least the next three regular season games after sitting the Packers' Week 1 win (27-13) over the Detroit Lions.
It's unclear when he'll be back, although general manager Brian Gutekunst provided some hope of a potential return this season in comments made on Aug. 12.
The Packers selected Watson with a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft out of North Dakota State. For his career, he's caught 98 passes for 1,653 yards and 14 touchdowns over three seasons.
The 26-year-old Watson was entering the final year of his rookie contract, but now he's locked in with the Packers through 2026.
Green Bay is deep at wide receiver, featuring a group that includes 2025 first-round pick Matthew Golden, last year's receiving leader Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs. The Pack also have a great tight end in Tucker Kraft, whose seven receiving touchdowns led the team last year.
Ultimately, it's a good move to keep Watson aboard for a promising Packers team that just took down a Lions squad that won an NFL-high 15 regular-season games. Their defense also looks spectacular, led by new superstar edge-rusher Micah Parsons.
Green Bay will look to keep up the momentum Thursday when it hosts the Washington Commanders.
