Week 2 NFL Picks and Early Odds to Exploit for Best Over/Under Box Score Bets

Kristopher KnoxSep 10, 2025

Week 1 of the 2025 season was certainly an interesting one. There weren't many outright upsets, but we saw quite a few surprising performances by individuals that could change the NFL narrative moving forward.

Yes, the Indianapolis Colts might really be a playoff team with Daniel Jones behind center.

Of course, it's important to remember that what we see during the opening slate is often a mirage. We'll have a more accurate picture of the landscape after teams have had a few weeks to adjust.

For anyone wary of the Week 2 lines, here are a few box score over/unders to consider instead.

Austin Ekeler Over 2.5 Receptions

1 of 4
Bengals Commanders Football

To be clear, there's some minor injury risk surrounding Washington Commanders running back Austin Ekeler. The 30-year-old showed up on the injury report this week with a shoulder ailment.

As long as Ekeler plays on Thursday night against the Green Bay Packers, though, he's a strong bet to hit the over on this receiving prop. He's -131 (bet $131 to win $100) to reach three receptions, which is pretty standard for Ekeler.

Ekeler caught three passes against the New York Giants in a game that Washington pretty much ran away with. Things should be much tighter in Green Bay, which could leave him even more involved in the passing game.

In 13 games as a Commander, Ekeler has averaged a shade over 2.9 receptions per game. For his career, he's averaged 4.1.

Josh Jacobs Over 1.5 Receptions

2 of 4
Bears Packers Football

Ekeler isn't the only running back we're likely to see involved in the passing game on Thursday night. Green Bay has its own talented dual threat in Josh Jacobs, who is -142 to hit the over on this receiving prop.

While the odds aren't incredibly enticing, there's a very strong chance that Jacobs crosses the threshold. He only had one reception in the season-opener, but the Packers pretty much routed the Detroit Lions. No Packer caught more than three passes on Sunday.

Last season, Jacobs averaged a little over 2.5 targets and 2.1 receptions per game.

Expect the Packers to use Jacobs in the passing game this week to augment the ground game—and to counter a new-look Commanders front that now includes Javon Kinlaw, Deatrich Wise and Von Miller.

Jalen Hurts Over 206.5 Passing Yards

3 of 4
Cowboys Eagles Football

The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will meet on Sunday in a rematch of Super Bowl LIX. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts threw for 221 yards in that game en route to winning Super Bowl MVP.

Vegas doesn't believe Philadelphia will be as pass-oriented this time around. Hurts is -113 to hit the over of a fairly modest line. Of course, Hurts largely ignored his wide receivers in Week 1 while throwing for just 152 yards.

However, Philly should look to attack Kansas City's secondary, as the Los Angeles Chargers did in Week 1. Justin Herbert threw for 318 yards in that game, while L.A. rushed for just 90 yards as a team.

The Eagles won't abandon their run-first mentality, of course, but as long as the Chiefs secondary has question marks, teams will keep looking to exploit it.

Browns and Ravens Over 43.5 Points

4 of 4
Ravens Bills Football
Ravens QB Lamar Jackson

This is an extremely low points total over/under, considering the Baltimore Ravens just dropped 40 points by themselves in Week 1. Of course, the Cleveland Browns are also involved, which means a couple of things.

The Browns offense scored just 16 points in Week 1, so it probably doesn't carry high expectations into this one. Cleveland also held the vaunted Cincinnati Bengals offense to 17 points in Week 1, which shouldn't be ignored.

Historically, though, Joe Burrow and the Bengals offense never look sharp against Cleveland. Lamar Jackson and the Ravens often do. Plus, Browns kicker Andre Szmyt left four points off the board with a missed chip-shot field goal and a point-after try. Had he made those, we'd be talking about two teams that scored 60 combined points in Week 1.

This is just too low a line, given the offensive talent Baltimore boasts, the defensive struggles it had in Week 1, and the fact that Cleveland can move the ball with Joe Flacco behind center. Last year's first meeting reached 53 points. While the second was a blowout Ravens win, it still reached 45.
