WNBA Playoff Picture 2025, Updated Standings and Bracket Predictions for Final Week

Joe TanseySep 8, 2025

The Atlanta Dream temporarily moved back into the No. 2 spot in the WNBA standings with their Monday win over the Connecticut Sun.

Atlanta extended its win streak to five games, but even if it closes out with another win over Connecticut on Wednesday, it might not finish in the top two.

The Las Vegas Aces hold the inside track to the No. 2 seed. They entered Monday in front of Atlanta on a tiebreaker and one game ahead of the Phoenix Mercury for the second seed.

Atlanta, Las Vegas and Phoenix are three of seven teams confirmed for the eight-team playoff bracket. The Seattle Storm can clinch the final spot as early as Tuesday.

Updated WNBA Standings

  1. Minnesota (33-9)
  2. Atlanta (29-14)
  3. Las Vegas (28-14)
  4. Phoenix (27-15)
  5. New York (25-17)
  6. Golden State (23-19)
  7. Indiana (23-20)
  8. Seattle (22-21)
  9. Los Angeles (20-22)

Atlanta is now a half-game ahead of the Aces with one game left on its regular-season schedule.

The Dream should cruise past the Sun once again on Wednesday, but they need help from the Aces' opponents to claim the No. 2 seed.

Las Vegas is expected to beat the Chicago Sky on Tuesday. The Aces could play an out-of-contention Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday.

The Sparks need to beat the Mercury and have the Storm lose to the Golden State Valkyries to stay alive until the regular-season finale.

Seattle clinches a playoff spot with a win over the Valkyries. The Storm could still achieve the No. 7 seed as well if the Indiana Fever lose out.

The rest of the field appears to be set. The Minnesota Lynx secured the No. 1 seed last week. The goal for the Aces, Dream and Mercury is to be on the opposite end of the bracket of the only 30-win team in the WNBA.

The New York Liberty are two games ahead of the Valkyries for the No. 5 seed. They will likely stay there.

Golden State, Indiana and Seattle are separated by 1.5 games going into Tuesday. The most room for change from the current standings will be at the bottom of the playoff spots, especially if Seattle beats Golden State.
