49ers' George Kittle Reportedly Goes On IR, Out at Least 4 Games with Hamstring Injury

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle will reportedly be placed on injured reserve and miss at least four games after suffering a hamstring injury during Sunday's 17-13 win over the Seattle Seahawks, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The earliest Kittle will be eligible to return is in Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after he misses games against the New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Rams.

Kittle left Sunday's game in the second quarter and didn't return.

He had four catches for 25 yards and a touchdown before leaving the contest. Hamstring issues also cost him two games last season.

It's a huge loss for the Niners on several fronts.

The 31-year-old tight end is one of the best players in the sport and both a six-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro selection. He was immense for the team in 2024, catching 78 passes for 1,106 yards and eight touchdowns. He also remains an impactful blocker in the run game.

But the 49ers have also been ravaged by injuries, namely in the passing game.

Brandon Aiyuk remains out as he recovers from last season's torn ACL. Wideout Wide receiver Jauan Jennings also left Sunday's game, dealing with a shoulder injury (Schefter reported Monday that Jennings' MRI "came back clean" but that the team is still waiting on a CT scan). Brock Purdy's status for Week 2 is up in the air after he suffered left shoulder and toe injuries.

Injuries were a major storyline for San Francisco last season as well, as the team came into the year with Super Bowl aspirations but finished just 6-11. The Niners lost Super Bowl LVIII against the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime, but staying healthy has proven to be their most daunting obstacle since.
