Malik Nabers Explains Viral Video of Brian Daboll Sideline Exchange in Giants' Loss

New York Giants star wide receiver Malik Nabers explained his testy sideline exchange with head coach Brian Daboll that went viral in Sunday's 21-6 loss to the Washington Commanders.

Nabers told reporters on Monday that he plans to be more vocal this year, so he took it upon himself to "speak up" because he felt "the energy wasn't right" on offense.

The Giants struggled to move the ball and failed to reach the end zone in Sunday's loss. New York was out-gained on offense 432-231 in total yards, as veteran quarterback Russell Wilson struggled with just 168 yards on 17-of-37 passing.

Nabers led the team with 71 receiving yards on five catches, and he didn't hold back his frustration on the sideline.

"It's two competitive people going at it," Nabers explained of his confrontation with Daboll. "He wants to win, I want to win. I feel like that's the reason he got me over here, because me and him are just alike. It was just two people going at it, we're trying to get the same outcome. So, that was really all."

Nabers is coming off a special rookie season in which he set an NFL record for the most receptions by a first-year wide receiver, finishing with 109 catches for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. While he's hoping to see improvements from the Giants' 3-14 finish to last season, it appears that the team is on the verge of another rebuilding year.

Nabers will have to tone down his fiery personality and stay patient amid the growing pains as the Giants continue to find their formula for success. The team will try to bounce back in another NFC East matchup when it meets the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
