Broncos' Bo Nix Takes Blame for 3 to vs. Titans, 'Have to Take Care of the Football'
Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix knows he needs to cut down on the turnovers despite his team coming out on top in Week 1.
Nix finished 25-of-40 for 176 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in a 20-12 victory over the Tennessee Titans. He also lost a fumble on a sack in the second quarter.

"You don't ever want to throw interceptions. As tough as it is, you've just got to move on and respond with positive plays after that," the second-year passer told reporters after the game. "Both times I thought I had decent vision … [but] probably shouldn't have thrown both of them. You live and you learn, sometimes you can be a little too aggressive, and I was too aggressive. Ultimately, I've got to be smarter.
"I have to take care of the football, especially with our defense. Can't put them in bad spots."
The Broncos prevailed in large part because of their defense. Titans quarterback Cam Ward had just 112 passing yards on 28 attempts and was sacked six times. Tennessee averaged just 3.4 yards per carry as a team, too.
Nix exceeded a lot of expectations as a rookie, throwing for 3,775 yards and 29 touchdowns while helping Denver get to the playoffs. That vindicated the Broncos after a lot of people thought they reached for the former Auburn and Oregon star with the No. 12 pick in the 2024 NFL draft.
However, the Nix skeptics will start to believe they were right along after Sunday.
His second interception resulted from a poor decision to roll left and then throw across his body.
On a 4th-and-8 late into the fourth quarter, Nix didn't throw the ball toward a wide-open Courtland Sutton and instead tried a more difficult pass to Marvin Mims Jr., which resulted in an incompletion.
It's too early to say Nix is in the midst of a sophomore slump, but C.J. Stroud's 2024 season with the Houston Texans is an example of how young QBs can regress. Mac Jones is an even more glaring instance of a QB looking good as a rookie and then steadily falling off a cliff.
The Broncos will hope Week 1 was just a blip for Nix.
