Cooper Kupp Says End of Seahawks Loss 'Just Makes You Sick' After Debut vs. 49ers
The Seattle Seahawks were nine yards away from a thrilling season-opening victory over the division-rival San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
And then it slipped away in a fashion that made wide receiver Cooper Kupp "sick."
With 43 seconds remaining and facing a 17-13 deficit, Sam Darnold took the snap from the 49ers' 9-yard line. Yet he fumbled when facing pressure, and Nick Bosa scooped up the loose ball to clinch the win for the visitors:

"The ending of that game just makes you sick," Kupp told reporters. "We were right there. At the end of the day, we shouldn't have been in that position. If we make half the plays that we expect to, and we're not there. Killer way for it to end."
While the final offensive snap for the Seahawks was magnified, the reality is the offense struggled throughout the contest.
Darnold threw for just 150 yards, the offense lost two fumbles and the rushing attack managed just 3.2 yards per carry. Seattle's defense played well enough to win, but the offense was unable to take advantage of a number of opportunities to pull away from the 49ers.
"We want to be able to defend home," Kupp said. "Guys are sick. They know the importance of winning here. There's a weightiness to that. This is not how we want to operate and not what we want to do, and guys want to make that right."
Kupp himself had just two catches for 15 yards, which was far from the performance he was looking for in his first career game on a team besides the Los Angeles Rams.
Even the defense will surely be kicking itself given the unlikely nature of what proved to be the game-winning touchdown catch for Jake Tonges:
Seattle won't have much time to feel sorry for itself with a Week 2 trip to visit a Pittsburgh Steelers team coming off a dramatic victory over the New York Jets.
The offense will need to be better if the NFC West team is going to come away with a bounce-back win, and Kupp's comments suggest the unit knows that.
