49ers, Colton McKivitz Agree to 3-Year, $45M Contract After Win vs. Seahawks
Colton McKivitz has been with the San Francisco 49ers his entire NFL career, and that reportedly isn't going to change anytime soon.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday the right tackle and NFC West team agreed to a three-year, $45 million contract extension that features $27 million in guarantees. The deal keeps him with the 49ers through the 2028 campaign after the 2025 season was set to be his final one on his previous deal.
McKivitz, who joined the 49ers as a fifth-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft, started and helped lead the team to a season-opening 17-13 victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
He also started every game in each of the last two seasons and has become a foundational building block for San Francisco's offensive line that is trusted with opening holes for running back Christian McCaffrey and protecting quarterback Brock Purdy.
McKivitz even made a tackle for the 49ers in the win over the Seahawks after Seattle blocked a field goal in the third quarter.
It is reasonable to expect the season-opening performance to be the first of many impressive ones from the West Virginia product given the improvement he made from his first year as a starter to his second.
Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle noted he allowed just two sacks and 36 quarterback pressures in 2024 after allowing nine sacks and 59 pressures the previous season. He is also just 29 years old and should continue to produce at a high level over the course of the extension.
Prior to this reported deal, McKivitz said, "I love being part of this team," when discussing the possibility of an extension, per Branch. "And they've reciprocated that … I'd be excited for that. But we'll see."
Now he will continue being part of the team and doesn't have to worry about his long-term future as he pursues a Lombardi Trophy in 2025 and beyond.
