Week 2 Fantasy Football Rankings, Projections and Waiver-Wire Tips
With Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season nearly in the books, fantasy football managers are already shifting into roster-management mode.
For some, that means plugging holes already created by the injury bug. For others, it's pouring over matchups to ensure their lineups are loaded with players who are capable of dismantling the defenses in front of them.
But no matter if you're working the waiver wire or adjusting things in-house, we're here to help with Week 2 by providing rankings and a waiver-wire target at each of the marquee positions.
Quarterback

Top 10
- Josh Allen, BUF (at NYJ)
- Lamar Jackson, BAL (vs. CLE)
- Jalen Hurts, PHI (at KC)
- Jayden Daniels, WAS (at GB)
- Justin Herbert, LAC (at LV)
- Justin Fields, NYJ (vs. BUF)
- Joe Burrow, CIN (vs. JAX)
- Drake Maye, NE (at MIA)
- Kyler Murray, ARI (vs. CAR)
- Baker Mayfield, TB (at HOU)
Waiver-wire target: Trevor Lawrence, JAX (at CIN)
Lawrence's first outing under new coach Liam Coen was fairly mundane (19-of-31 for 178 yards, one touchdown and one interception), but the Jags didn't need much from their quarterback when they were busy pulverizing the Panthers to the tune of 200 rushing yards.
A game script flip in Week 2 could put Lawrence on the breakout track. The Bengals had a clunky opener, but they can obviously put points on the board. And if this becomes anything close to a track meet, Lawrence should put up numbers against a generous pass defense that just allowed Joe Flacco to throw for 290 yards.
Projected stats: 257 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, 18 rushing yards
Running Back

Top 10
- Bijan Robinson, ATL (at MIN)
- Christian McCaffrey, SF (at NO)
- Saquon Barkley, PHI (at KC)
- Derrick Henry, BAL (vs. CLE)
- Jonathan Taylor, IND (vs. DEN)
- Jahmyr Gibbs, DET (vs. CHI)
- Ashton Jeanty, LV (vs. LAC)
- Chase Brown, CIN (vs. JAX)
- Josh Jacobs, GB (vs. WAS)
- De'Von Achane, MIA (vs. NE)
Waiver-wire target: Dylan Sampson, CLE (at BAL)
Sampson's fantasy utility might have an expiration date with Quinshon Judkins now under contract, but Sampson might still have some runway as Cleveland's RB1. He was easily the Browns' most involved back on Sunday, handling half of the team's 24 carries and being targeted on eight of the nine passes that went to running backs.
Sampson wasn't remotely efficient as a rusher (12 carries for 29 yards), but he was reliable as a receiver (he caught all eight targets) and simply too involved to ignore. And if the Browns are playing from behind a lot in Week 2, that might be good news, since Sampson fared better in the passing game.
Projected stats: 37 rushing yards, 7 receptions for 67 yards, one touchdown

Top 10
- CeeDee Lamb, DAL (vs. NYG)
- Justin Jefferson, MIN (vs. ATL)
- Ja'Marr Chase, CIN (vs. JAX)
- Puka Nacua, LAR (at TEN)
- Malik Nabers, NYG (at DAL)
- Nico Collins, HOU (vs. TB)
- Amon-Ra St. Brown, DET (vs. CHI)
- Jaxon Smith-Njigba, SEA (at PIT)
- Drake London, ATL (at MIN)
- Garrett Wilson, NYJ (vs. BUF)
Waiver-wire target: Keon Coleman, BUF (at NYJ)
While Coleman wasn't super consistent or wildly productive as a rookie, his upside heading into his sophomore season was obvious. One glance at the depth chart showed he had a realistic path toward becoming the favorite target of reining MVP Josh Allen, and fantasy managers who didn't snatch up Coleman already with hopes of that happening only have this waiver-wire window to correct that mistake.
Once this waiver period passes, Coleman will almost certainly be too rostered to qualify as a sleeper. Allen may have spread it around in Buffalo's season opener (six different players had multiple catches), but Coleman was still the primary target and led the team in targets (11), receptions (eight) and receiving yards (112). His fantasy stock is set to skyrocket soon.
Projected stats: 7 receptions for 98 yards, one touchdown
