Cam Ward Reacts to Making NFL Debut on Video After Titans' Week 1 Loss to Broncos
Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward didn't win his NFL debut on Sunday, losing 20-12 against the Denver Broncos, but he enjoyed himself nonetheless.
"I felt good, honestly," he told reporters. "I felt alive again, just being live, knowing that it's not a preseason game, it's a real football game. The rush that you get, it's unbelievable, it's something that you wouldn't want to trade for the world. I'm blessed to be in this position, I'm blessed to have guys around me who believe in me, and we're just really trying to get better. So we've gotta continue to take it one week at a time, but it felt good to get out there."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Ward very much looked the part of a rookie making his first career start, finishing 12-of-18 for 112 yards, no touchdowns, no interceptions and a lost fumble. Denver's swarming defense sacked him six times, though that shouldn't come as a major surprise—the Broncos led the NFL with 63 sacks in 2024.
It wasn't exactly a warm welcome to the league. Still, Ward told reporters there were things for the Titans to build on after the loss.
"We can be explosive," he said. "We've just gotta connect on the play, from myself to the receiving group. We can be explosive. And also, we're able to run the football. I think that's a plus side of our game that we can run the football if we really want to. And then Coach [Brian] Callahan is always going to put the ball in my hands, he's gonna do what's best for the offense, so I'm excited to continue to grow with those guys."
The Titans have high hopes for Ward after selecting him with the top overall pick in April's draft, immediately installing him as the starter. If there were indeed positives to take away on Sunday, it was that the defense played well and Ward looked far better than the final stats, or result, would suggest.
Better days are on the horizon for Ward, in other words. He acquitted himself well in the loss, and the Titans appear to have their franchise quarterback of the future.
