Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa Reacts to Question Suggesting His Turnovers Come 'in Bunches'

Timothy RappSep 7, 2025

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw two interceptions and lost a fumble during Sunday's 33-8 loss against the Indianapolis Colts, the seventh time since 2020 that he's had three turnovers in a game.

Only Trevor Lawrence has more three-turnover games in that span, per ESPN Research, though Tagovailoa didn't appreciate being asked if he thought his turnovers tend to "come in bunches" after the game.

"I wouldn't say I'm pressing. I would say it's part of the game," he told reporters. "You obviously don't want to turn the ball over. I thought that was a wild comment, that I turn the ball over in bunches. That's crazy. It just so happened that's what happened today, it was what it was. Got to move forward from that, can't make those same mistakes."

Head coach Mike McDaniel offered his own take on Tagovailoa's performance.

"It was something left to be desired... there's throws he makes nine times out of 10, and he didn't make them today," he told reporters. "Definitely not all on him—too many people failed at the execution of their jobs for him to have anything extra on his shoulders. Like the rest of the team, [his performance] wasn't good enough."

And then there was wideout Tyreek Hill's rather, shall we say, blunt assessment of Miami's showing:

Sunday was a complete team loss for the Dolphins. The defense allowed the Colts to score on every one of their seven possessions. But Tagovailoa's inability to protect the ball certainly didn't help.
