Cowboys' Diggs on Micah Parsons' 1st Sack After Packers Trade, 'This Can't Be Real'

Andrew PetersSep 7, 2025

For the first time in his NFL career, Micah Parsons suited up for a team other than the Dallas Cowboys.

Parsons made his Green Bay Packers debut against the Detroit Lions, recording a sack in a 27-13 win.

His former teammate, Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs, couldn't believe his eyes.

"This can't be real," Diggs wrote on social media. "Wake me up from the dream."

Diggs, a second-round pick in 2020, has been with Parsons, a first-round pick in 2021, for most of his career, so seeing his long-time teammate playing for another franchise had to be a strange feeling.

The Cowboys parted with Parsons last week, sending him to the Packers in return for a pair of first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. Upon arrival in Green Bay, Parsons signed a record-setting four-year, $188 million contract that includes $136 million. It's the biggest contract for a non-quarterback in NFL history.

The trade came after frustration from Parsons over a lack of progress on a new deal with the Cowboys. The star pass rusher requested a trade from Dallas in August, saying he no longer wanted to be with the Cowboys because of the way contract negotiations had gone.

Ultimately, the Cowboys opted to trade Parsons rather than pay him, and the move is still shocking for Diggs and likely many others in Dallas.

Parsons has been one of the best pass rushers in the NFL since he was drafted in 2021, racking up 52.5 sacks across his first four seasons. Last year, he recorded 12 sacks despite missing four games.

His absence will be felt in Dallas, but Parsons will look to help Green Bay make a Super Bowl run after a lack of postseason success with the Cowboys.
