Brian Daboll Defends Russell Wilson, Says Giants' Loss to Commanders 'Isn't On' QB
Despite the New York Giants' offensive struggles in Sunday's 21-6 loss to the Washington Commanders, head coach Brian Daboll doesn't feel the team's new signal-caller is to blame.
While speaking to reporters after the game, Daboll declared that the loss "isn't on" veteran quarterback Russell Wilson.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Wilson completed just 17 of his 37 passes for 168 yards in his debut in a Giants uniform. He also led the team with 44 rushing yards on eight carries. New York was out-gained by Washington 432-231 in total yards on offense.
In a particularly alarming moment in the game, the Giants had first-and-goal from the 3-yard line late in the fourth quarter, but Wilson threw four straight incompletions.
Despite his struggles on Sunday, the 36-year-old gave a positive assessment of the team's performance after the game.
"I just focus on what we can control. I thought we competed our butts off today," Wilson told reporters. That was a physical game, I thought we left it all on the field, we gave it our all physically. ... They stopped us in the red zone, that was the name of the game. We had eight, nine possessions, two of them were down in the red zone, we didn't capitalize on those."
After finishing with a 3-14 record in 2024, the Giants are hoping for better results this year with Wilson under center. However, any further struggles will lead to fans calling for the team to start rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart.
New York will try to get back on track when it faces the Dallas Cowboys in an NFC East matchup in Week 2.
