Amik Robertson Honors Late Kyren Lacy on Custom Cleats for Lions vs. Packers Game

Scott PolacekSep 7, 2025

Detroit Lions cornerback Amik Robertson will use his cleats during the 2025 NFL season to honor his friend Kyren Lacy, who died in April at the age of 24.

TMZ Sports reported Sunday that Robertson reached out to artist Joe Castro to create cleats that would recognize the former LSU wide receiver.

"I'm happy to help with the tribute," Castro, who revealed it took approximately six hours to complete the cleat art that features a photograph from Lacy's LSU career, said.

Robertson and Lacy are both from Louisiana and were close. They remained in-state for college with the former going to Louisiana Tech and the latter starting at Louisiana before transferring to LSU.

"We're saddened to learn of the tragic passing of former LSU Football student-athlete Kyren Lacy," LSU said in a statement in April. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones, as well as his former teammates and coaches impacted by his passing."

The wide receiver was an NFL draft hopeful and finished the 2024 season with the Tigers with 58 catches for 866 yards and nine touchdowns. It was his third season at LSU after he started his collegiate career with two seasons with the Ragin' Cajuns.

As for Robertson, he entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick of the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020 and played four seasons with the AFC West team before joining the Lions for the 2024 campaign.

He and Detroit will face the Green Bay Packers in Sunday's season opener.
