Allen Robinson Makes Pitch for Chiefs Contract After Week 1 Loss, 'Swear I Could Help'
NFL free agent wide receiver Allen Robinson wants to play for the Kansas City Chiefs and help solve their current wide receiver shortage, per a post made on X during the team's 27-21 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil on Friday.
The Chiefs enter this season without wide receiver Rashee Rice, who will miss Kansas City's first six games while serving a suspension for a violation of the NFL's personal conduct policy stemming from his role causing a six-vehicle crash in March 2024 on a Dallas highway.

In the first quarter of Thursday's game, wide receiver Xavier Worthy suffered a shoulder injury after he and tight end Travis Kelce collided while running routes. He is scheduled for an MRI, per head coach Andy Reid to reporters, so it's unclear how much time (if any) Worthy could miss.
Ultimately, it's possible the Chiefs are without Worthy for some regular season action. The Chiefs rolled with Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Tyquan Thornton were Kansas City's top three wideouts by snap count and production. The Chiefs also have Jason Brownlee and Nikko Remigio on the current 53-man roster. Remigio is notably Kansas City's top kick and punt returner.
So it's possible the Chiefs could look for help in the short-term.
Robinson is certainly interested. He's an 11-year veteran who has played snaps for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Chicago Bears, Los Angeles Rams, Pittsburgh Steelers and Detroit Lions.
At his best, Robinson was an exceptional talent with three 1,000-yard seasons. His best efforts were with the 2015 Jags (80 catches, 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns), 2019 Bears (98/1,147/7) and 2020 Bears (102/1,250/6).
Since then, though, Robinson's production has waned. Injuries have certainly hampered Robinson, most notably a season-ending foot ailment when he played with the 2022 Rams.
His last full season was with the 2023 Steelers, and he caught 34 passes for 280 yards (no touchdowns).
Last year, the 32-year-old Robinson appeared in 12 games for the Lions, catching three passes for 30 yards.
Robinson's best days, which were excellent, are unfortunately behind him at this point, but there's still a clear desire to play. He clearly would like to play for Kansas City.
As for the Chiefs, they need to game plan around Worthy's MRI results and status going forward and move from there. They have a tough test next in the form of the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, who will visit Kansas City next Sunday in a rematch of last year's Big Game.
