Hunter is about to make his much-anticipated NFL debut on Sunday, when the Jaguars host the Carolina Panthers.
Jacksonville has great plans for Hunter, who was the No. 2 overall pick in the draft. The Jaguars traded up from No. 5 to No. 2 with the Cleveland Browns to land the ex-Colorado star.
"Travis, in fact, as a player is rare," general manager James Gladstone told reporters at Hunter's introductory press conference. "As a person, he's also rare. When we say that the idea of inviting people into our ecosystem, who by being nothing more than who they are, elevate the space … that's the epitome of what Travis is. We're not going to ask him to be any more than him because by doing so, he elevates not only this football team, not only this city, but the sport itself."
The reigning Heisman Trophy winner excelled at Colorado, where he dominated at wide receiver (96 passes for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns) and cornerback (36 tackles, 11 pass breakups and four interceptions) in 2024.
On the Jaguars' depth chart, Hunter is listed as a starting wide receiver and backup cornerback.
He'll get his shot on both sides of the ball soon enough. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET from Jacksonville's EverBank Stadium.
