Javonte Williams Fantasy Football Outlook After Cowboys RB Scores 2 TDs vs. Eagles
Javonte Williams could be in for a breakout year after a hot start against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday.
The Dallas Cowboys running back finished with 54 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 15 carries in Thursday's 24-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He also had a pair of receptions for 10 yards. After just one game, Williams is already halfway to his career high in rushing touchdowns.
Though still early in the year, Williams could end up being a fantasy football star if he continues this kind of production.
Williams, a former second-round pick out of North Carolina, had a promising start to his career, recording 903 rushing yards and four touchdowns plus 316 receiving yards and three touchdowns as a rookie.
A knee injury limited Williams to just four games in his second season, and he hasn't been able to match his rookie production since.
Williams joined the Cowboys this offseason, and a change of scenery could be exactly what the running back needs. He hasn't been on the best offense in Denver, and his former team may have been holding him back.
Williams is far from the fastest runner, but what he lacks in speed, he makes up for in strength. He has already displayed that this season.
His power makes him an enticing fantasy player, as the Cowboys will likely look to him often in goal-line situations. So while Williams may not rack up yards the way some running backs do, he could very well end the season with double-digit touchdowns.
The Cowboys have made it clear through the first game that Williams is going to get the majority of the touches over Miles Sanders and Jaydon Blue, who was a healthy scratch on Thursday, in the backfield, so if he stays healthy, fantasy football managers should expect a solid year for him.
