Giants Reportedly Sell 10 Percent Stake to Koch Family, Pending NFL Approval
The New York Giants are reportedly selling a 10 percent stake in the team to the Koch family pending NFL owners' approval.
Giles Turner and Randall Williams of Bloomberg broke the news Thursday. Others have since reported the potential sale, including Rebecca Tauber and Dianna Russini of The Athletic and Kurt Badenhausen of Sportico.
Forbes' latest valuation of the Giants places them as the third-most valuable NFL franchise at $10.1 billion. At this time, the Mara and Tisch families each own 50 percent of the team. Per Badenhausen, the Koch family would pay over $1 billion for the stake, leaving the Mara and Tisch families with a 45 percent stake apiece.

News broke last February per Ben Fischer of Sports Business Journal that the Giants were seeking to sell up to 10 percent of the franchise.
The wheels now appear to be in motion to sell that stake to the Koch family, owners of Koch Inc. Forbes provided a breakdown of the company.
"Based in Wichita, Kansas, Koch, Inc. is one of the largest private companies in America, with annual revenues that have exceeded $125 billion. It owns a diverse group of companies involved in manufacturing, agriculture, pulp and paper, packaging, consumer products, building materials, glass, automotive components, refining, renewable energy, chemicals and polymers, electronics, software, network solutions, health care technology, engineered technology, project services, recycling, supply chain and logistics, commodities trading, real estate, and investments."
Julia Koch, the widow of ex-Koch Inc. co-owner David Koch, and her family have a net worth of $79.2 billion, per the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. The Koch family has previously invested in New York sports, paying almost $700 million for 15 percent of BSE Global, owner of the Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty.
Now they may be adding the Giants to their list of teams. Per The Athletic, it's currently unknown when owners will meet to vote on approving the reported deal.
