
USWNT's Sophia Wilson, Cardinals' Michael Wilson Announce Birth of Daughter in Photo
United States Women's National Team star Sophia Wilson and Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Wilson are first-time parents.
The couple revealed the birth of their daughter, Gianna, on Wednesday:
Kayla Grant of People noted Sophia and Michael started dating in 2019 when they were athletes at Stanford and then married in January 2025.
They revealed the pregnancy in March on Instagram with the caption "life just keeps getting sweeter."
Sophia Wilson plays forward for the Portland Thorns in the National Women's Soccer League and for the USWNT and already has a decorated career at the age of 25. She is a two-time NWSL MVP, helped the Thorns win the title in 2022 and was named the 2022 U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year.
She also played for the national team during the 2023 World Cup and 2024 Paris Olympics. Wilson scored three goals in those Paris Games, one of which came in the semifinal victory over Germany, and helped the Americans take home gold.
The front line of Wilson, Mallory Swanson and Trinity Rodman proved unstoppable at times as the United States prevailed.
As for Michael Wilson, he was a third-round pick of the Cardinals in the 2023 NFL draft.
He has 85 catches for 1,113 yards and seven touchdowns through two seasons and is expected to be one of the team's primary receivers alongside Marvin Harrison Jr. and Zay Jones in 2025.
