Angel Reese Suspended 1 Game for Sky After 8th Technical Foul of Season vs. Sun
The Chicago Sky have just four games left this season, and Angel Reese will have to miss one of them.
The second-year player picked up her eighth technical foul of the season against the Connecticut Sun, meaning she'll be suspended for the Sky's contest against the Indiana Fever on Friday.
Reese was handed the tech after swiping Connecticut's Aaliyah Edwards across the head while going for a rebound. While the play might not have been intentional, it was enough for her to earn a technical foul.
Reese leads the WNBA in technical fouls this year with eight. Just behind her is the New York Liberty's Natasha Cloud, who has six.
Luckily for the Sky, Reese's absence won't be too detrimental since Chicago has long been eliminated from playoff contention. The Sky are sitting in 12th place in the WNBA standings at 9-30, just ahead of the last-placed Dallas Wings, who are 9-32.
Reese's suspension will come as good news for the Fever, however. Indiana is chasing the final playoff spot and a win over the Sky would go a long way. The Fever currently hold the eighth and final playoff spot, but they're just a game ahead of the Los Angeles Sparks, so they can't afford to slip up over the final stretch.
Things have been tough for Indiana with star Caitlin Clark missing most of the season due to various injuries, so taking on a Chicago team without one of its best players is a major boost.
Reese is putting up 14.6 points, 12.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game this season.
