Joe Burrow Says Narrative Around Bengals Has 'Shifted,' QB 'Excited to Put on a Show'
The Cincinnati Bengals are entering a pivotal year after missing the playoffs in back-to-back seasons.
The Bengals appeared on their way to being a perennial contender when they reached the Super Bowl in 2021 and made the AFC Championship game in 2022, but things have since stalled.
MVP-caliber quarterback Joe Burrow thinks things have changed heading into the 2025 campaign.
"I certainly think that the narrative surrounding our team has shifted," Burrow told reporters on Wednesday. "I'm not sure I would say most to prove. I would say that we certainly are trying to go out and win as much as we can. We're putting in a lot of work for it."
There are very few questions about Cincinnati's offense heading into the season. Burrow is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and he has triple-crown winner Ja'Marr Chase and his co-star, Tee Higgins, to throw to.
The Bengals' defense, which gave up 25.5 points per game last year, is the biggest question. Luckily, the team retained star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson after a lengthy holdout and used their first-round pick on defensive end Shemar Stewart.
Burrow thinks the Bengals have done enough this offseason to "put on a show" in 2025.
"Showing everyone the work you put in over the last eight months to make yourself better in front of the world, that's what sports are," Burrow said. "That's why we love them. And I'm excited to put on a show."
