The two-time US Open champion advanced to the semifinal of the tournament for the first time since she last won the competition in 2020.

Both Osaka and Muchová held serve through the first nine games of the opening set. Osaka quickly jumped out to triple-set point in the ensuing game and later secured a 6-4 finish following a backhand volley forced error from Muchová.

Muchová recorded her first break of the match to start the second set, but wasn't able to extend her lead after Osaka immediately responded with a break of her own.

The two players held serve for the remainder of the set, which led to a tiebreak.

Osaka quickly won four of the first five points in the tiebreak. While Muchová stayed alive for a short while longer, she ultimately couldn't push the match to a third set.

Osaka emerged victorious largely due to her success on break points, converting three of four opportunities. Meanwhile, Muchová converted just two of her seven chances.

Now, Osaka will move on to face Amanda Anisimova in the semifinal at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Thursday at 8:10 p.m. ET.
