Angel Reese's Teammates Reportedly Unhappy with Remarks, Sky Future May Be Irreparable

Zach BacharSep 3, 2025

Angel Reese's teammates are "unhappy" with her comments about them in a recent interview, according to Annie Costabile of Front Office Sports.

Reese told the Chicago Tribune's Julia Poe that she's not "settling for the same s--t we did this year" and the Sky front office has to acquire "good players" during the upcoming offseason.

The forward's future in Chicago "may not be reparable" and a team meeting has been planned following her remarks, per Costabile.

The Sky have been eliminated from playoff contention, sitting at No. 12 in the WNBA standings with a 9-30 record this season.

While Chicago will likely make several roster changes during the upcoming offseason in order to bounce back in 2026 and enter the playoff conversation once again, it's still unusual for Reese to openly discuss the team potentially moving on from her current teammates.

Reese told Poe that the Sky wouldn't be able to consistently rely on veteran point guard Courtney Vandersloot going forward after she tore her ACL in June and didn't believe that backup options such as Rachel Banham and Hailey Van Lith were more prepared to carry a playoff team.

Sky head coach Tyler Marsh confirmed that the team was dealing with Reese's remarks.

"We are aware of it," Marsh said, per Costabile. "We're addressing it in-house as currently speaking. That's where we'll stay right now."

Reese is averaging a team-high 14.6 points and 12.6 rebounds per game this season, shooting 46.3 percent from the field. She's also recording 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals on a nightly basis.

Despite Reese's reportedly murky outlook in Chicago, she remained in the team's starting lineup for a matchup with the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday.
