Kate Scott to Make History as 1st Female Play-by-Play Announcer for NFL Radio Partner

Julia StumbaughSep 3, 2025

Philadelphia 76ers play-by-play announcer Kate Scott will make NFL history by joining the league's official audio broadcast partner, Westwood One, to call an international game this month.

Scott will call plays alongside former NFL tight end Kyle Rudolph during an audio broadcast of the Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers game being played in Dublin on Sept. 28, according to The Athletic's Richard Deitsch.

The outing will mark the first time Westwood One has featured a woman doing play-by-play commentary in a regular-season game, per Deitsch.

Scott became the second woman to earn a full-time job as an NBA play-by-play announcer when the Sixers hired her in 2021. She has also called preseason plays for the Seattle Seahawks since 2023.

Her accomplishments include being the first woman to call plays for the Pac-12 Network and being part of the first all-woman crew to call plays for an NHL in the United States.

Per the Seahawks, Scott is the only woman who has called play-by-play for NFL, NHL and NBA alongside NCAA college football and the Olympics.

Her work also extends to video games, where she is one of the play-by-play voices in Madden NFL 25.

Westwood One Sports vice president and executive producer Mike Eaby told Deitsch he had been impressed by Scott's work in calling a friendly between the U.S. women's national soccer team and Canada in July.

"I was impressed with the way she quickly went back into radio mode despite doing mostly TV," Eaby told Deitsch.

The game will also take place before Scott's duties with the 76ers resume. The Sixers are set to open the 2025 preseason on Oct. 2 against the New York Knicks.

The Sept. 28 game marks the first time in NFL history the league has played a regular-season game in Ireland.

Westwood One's broadcast team will be led this season by Kevin Harlan and Kurt Warner, who will call Monday Night Football broadcasts for the network, per Deitsch.

Kevin Kugler, Devin McCourty and Ross Tucker will contribute on Thursday nights while Ryan Radtke and Mike Golic Sr. will call Sunday nights, Deitsch reported.
