Tomic Arrested for Trespassing, Resisting Arrest
Thursday, July 16
After the Aussie's party at the W South Beach hotel in Miami caused a disturbance, Tomic was arrested as he refused to leave the premises after complaints from other patrons, according to TMZ.
The world's No. 25 ranked men's tennis player was reportedly the only one who did not comply with the hotel's request, which led to trespassing and resisting arrest charges being filed before he was ultimately released from jail on $2,000 bail.
On July 17, BBC Sport reported Tomic apologized for his actions.
TMZ Sports provided a look at the 22-year-old's mugshot following his arrest:
Tomic was surprisingly eliminated in the first round of the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport, Rhode Island, by fellow Aussie John-Patrick Smith Monday. He is also coming off a third-round exit at Wimbledon at the hands of eventual champion Novak Djokovic.
While Tomic has a ton of talent and has long been viewed as a potential tennis star, he has never been able to put all his skills together and truly do some damage at Grand Slam tournaments.
The young Aussie needs to focus on refining his game in order to reach the next echelon of players, but with an arrest now further sullying his reputation, it is fair to wonder if he will ever fulfill the immense potential he possesses.
