Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani Hits 120 MPH Home Run vs. Pirates on Video, 100th HR with Team

Scott PolacekSep 2, 2025

Shohei Ohtani has quite the fastball when he is on the mound as a pitcher, but nobody in Major League Baseball is throwing harder than the home run the Los Angeles Dodgers star laced during Tuesday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Ohtani launched a home run with a 120-mph exit velocity in the top of the third inning to cut the deficit to 4-2:

Dodger Insider noted it is the hardest-hit ball of his MLB career and the third-hardest hit ball in the league this season behind a 122.9 mph one off the bat of Oneil Cruz and a 120.4 mph one off the bat of Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

That type of hit is impressive no matter the type of pitch it came against, but it was anything but an easy one from Bubba Chandler.

Baseball insider David Adler noted the long ball was the hardest-hit homer off a pitch that was going 99 mph or faster in the Statcast era.

It was fitting that Ohtani hit such a notable home run for a personal milestone. It was his 100th long ball in a Dodgers uniform and came late in his second season with the team after he played his first six years with the Los Angeles Angels.

The National League MVP candidate entered Tuesday's game slashing .276/.386/.600 with 45 home runs, 85 RBI and 17 stolen bases. He also has a 4.18 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 11 starts as a pitcher this season.

Ohtani already has three MVPs on his resume, but a fourth may be on the way.

Especially if he continues to hit home runs like the one he did Tuesday.
