Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb Will Watch Eagles' Super Bowl Banner Ceremony for Motivation

Doric SamSep 2, 2025

When the Philadelphia Eagles unveil their Super Bowl banner before Thursday's season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, at least one opposing player will be taking in the celebration.

Cowboys star receiver CeeDee Lamb told reporters on Tuesday that he plans to watch the Eagles' ceremony prior to their matchup.

"Shout out to them for that, because I still got brothers over there. It's not really anything personal, but it's something that I'm chasing," Lamb said. When asked why he wants to watch the ceremony, he replied, "Motivation."

While Lamb will be watching Philadelphia's celebration of its 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, the Eagles will not. Head coach Nick Sirianni told reporters on Tuesday that the team won't be on the field during the unveiling of the championship banner.

"I didn't know it was banner night," Sirianni told reporters. "We won't be out for that."

Sirianni's philosophy of the Eagles putting last season's championship win behind them has been consistent throughout the offseason. Philadelphia tight end Dallas Goedert said in June that Sirianni preferred to have the Super Bowl banner revealed already because "then we wouldn't have to worry about it ever again, because he doesn't want us thinking about last year."

That type of focus could help the Eagles become the first NFC team to repeat as Super Bowl champions since the Cowboys in 1992 and 1993. However, Lamb is hoping to have something to say about that.

Dallas is facing questions about its chances to contend for a Super Bowl title after surprisingly trading star edge rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers last week. Still, Lamb is one of the best receivers in the league, and it's clear that he's bringing a renewed mindset to the 2025 season as he tries to help the Cowboys return to the postseason.
