US Open Tennis 2025 Results, Tuesday's Bracket Winners, Losers and Highlights

Joe TanseySep 2, 2025

Carlos Alcaraz continued his tear through the 2025 US Open men's singles bracket with another straight-set win on Tuesday.

The No. 2 seed has not lost a set yet in five matches in New York. He also hasn't faced anyone seeded above No. 20 on his way to the semifinals.

The latter statistic will change in the semifinals when he faces No. 7 seed Novak Djokovic.

Djokovic battled to a four-set win over No. 4 seed Taylor Fritz, the last American male left in the draw.

At least one American will play in the semifinals. No. 4 seed Jessica Pegula cruised into the final four with a two-set triumph inside Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Pegula, one of three Americans left in the singles draws, will play top seed Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals.

Sabalenka was scheduled to play on Tuesday night, but Marketa Vondrousova withdrew due to injury.

No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz def. No. 20 Jiri Lehecka, 6-4, 6-2, 6-4

No. 7 Novak Djokovic def. No. 4 Taylor Fritz, 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4

Carlos Alcaraz once again put together a stunning performance inside Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The Spanish No. 2 seed took care of No. 20 seed Jiri Lehecka in straight sets to confirm a showdown with either Novak Djokovic or Taylor Fritz.

Alcaraz advanced to his third US Open semifinal in the last four years and his fifth Grand Slam semifinal in the last two years.

He will be favored against Novak Djokovic in the semifinals.

Djokovic moved on with a four-set win over No. 4 seed Taylor Fritz.

Fritz appeared to snatch the momentum of the match with a victory in the third set, but Djokovic rallied back to seal the win in four sets.

Djokovic will be the underdog against Alcaraz, but he'll get an extra day to rest ahead of Friday.

Djokovic does own a 5-3 head-to-head record over Alcaraz, including a quarterfinal triumph at the 2025 Australian Open.

However, all three of Alcaraz wins in the head-to-head series came in the semifinal or final of a tournament.

Women's Singles

2 of 2

No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka def. Marketa Vondrousova (injury withdrawal)

No. 4 Jessica Pegula def. Barbora Krejcikova, 6-3, 6-3

Jessica Pegula confirmed at least one American singles player will take part in the semifinals.

The No. 4 seed looked strong in her straight-set victory over two-time major winner Barbora Krejcikova.

Pegula is one win away from reaching the US Open women's singles final for the second straight year.

To do so, she has to beat top seed Aryna Sabalenka, who has won three of the last five hard-court majors.

Sabalenka did not step on court on Tuesday due to the injury withdrawal of Marketa Vondrousova.

Sabalenka is 7-2 in her career against Pegula. Both of Pegula's wins against the top seed occurred on hard courts.

However, Sabalenka won each of the last three head-to-head meetings, including the 2024 US Open final.
