Saints to Debut 'Gameday Golds' Alternate Uniform for 2025 NFL Opener vs. Cardinals

The New Orleans Saints aren't waiting long to break out their "Gameday Golds."

The team announced it will wear the gold jerseys on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. This is the first time since 2002 the Saints have included a gold top in their uniform set.

New Orleans first lifted the curtain on the "Gameday Golds" in July. Black helmets and pants accompany the gold jerseys with black numbers and lettering.

The Saints have maintained a fairly consistent look since their inaugural season in 1967. Their logo is largely unchanged, and wearing black jerseys with gold paints is a unifying theme across decades.

New Orleans will hope to avoid the same fate from the last time it swapped out the black tops for gold ones. The Minnesota Vikings upset the Saints 32-31 on the road on Dec. 15, 2002. Daunte Culpepper threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns, both of which went to Randy Moss.

Jim Haslett's squad missed the playoffs by a half-game that year, going 9-7 and finishing just behind the 9-6-1 Atlanta Falcons for the final wild-card spot.

If the Saints open up 2025 with a defeat, it might be another 20-plus years before the gold jerseys are revived.
