Tyreek Hill Not Among Dolphins' Team Captains After Controversial End to 2024 Season
One star was notable through his omission when the Miami Dolphins announced their captains for the 2025 NFL season.
Wide receiver Tyreek Hill wasn't among the six players to receive the distinction ahead of Week 1.

Hill acknowledged in May he had to regain a level of internal trust based on how the 2024 season ended.
"It was tough, man," he told reporters. "Obviously emotions were high then, but at the end of the day, I'm just looking to move forward from that, hoping that I can prove myself and prove to my teammates that I'm still one of them ones, man, who's chasing 2K [receiving yards], still one of those ones chasing playoff dreams and all of that great stuff."
Miami finished 8-9 and missed the playoffs last year. Compounding that disappointing finish, Hill seemingly asked out of the team's Week 18 loss to the New York Jets. The Fox broadcast appeared to capture a moment in the third quarter when wideout Jaylen Waddle asked Hill off-screen whether he was "done" for the day.
After the game, the star pass-catcher led many to believe he had played his last game with the Dolphins.
The fact Hill is still on Miami's roster speaks for itself, and he has a clear incentive to perform when he's headed for free agency in 2027. The market can be tough for receivers in their mid-30s, but one with Hill's resume might get to collect one more big payday when the time comes.
Maybe the five-time All-Pro voluntarily removed himself from the captaincy conversation. Otherwise, it looks as though the Dolphins sent a clear message.
