While the top six teams in both the American and National Leagues have remained the same, there have been some exciting developments.
The Detroit Tigers maintained their position atop the AL after becoming the second MLB team to reach 80 wins this season. The Toronto Blue Jays aren't too far behind, but they could have to start looking in their rearview mirrors soon.
The New York Yankees surged to second place in the AL East after a seven-game win streak. Despite having their streak snapped with a disappointing 3-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox on Sunday, they benefited from the Blue Jays dropping two of three against the Milwaukee Brewers. New York is now three games behind Toronto for the AL East lead, and the two teams will meet for a three-game series next weekend.
In the AL West, the Houston Astros dropped two of three against the Los Angeles Angels and now lead the Seattle Mariners by just two games. The Mariners are still hoping to find consistency after going 5-5 in their last 10 games.
The Brewers are still perched atop the NL, but some interesting things are going on behind them.
The reigning World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers are still struggling to return to form, dropping the first two games of their series against the Arizona Diamondbacks this weekend. However, their NL West lead is safe thanks to the San Diego Padres losing five of their last seven games.
There isn't much drama in the wild-card races, as the teams in the hunt have at least three games separating them from the final spot in both leagues.
Still, there's a lot that can change between now and the start of the postseason, so every game will become more crucial as the 2025 campaign winds down.
