Romanian tennis player Sorana Cirstea revealed that her trophy from the Tennis In the Land tournament in Cleveland was stolen from her hotel room in New York while she was playing in the US Open this week.

In an Instagram post on Saturday night, Cirstea pleaded for the trophy to be returned to her, stating that it holds no value beyond "sentimental value."

"Whoever stole my Cleveland trophy from room 314 at The Fifty Sonesta please give it back!" Cirstea wrote on Instagram. "It has NO material value, just sentimental value. It would be (greatly) appreciated! Thank you, Sorana."

The 35-year-old Cirstea won her third career singles title on Aug. 23, beating Ann Li to claim victory at Tennis in the Land. It marked her first WTA singles title in four years and her first hardcourt singles title since 2008. She was presented with the trophy from the event ahead of the US Open.

She reached the second round of singles but fell to No. 11 Karolina Muchova and later lost in the first round of doubles with her partner, Anna Kalinskaya.

According to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), the hotel said it had no comment about the incident.
