Carlos Alcaraz's Haircut Mocked by Rory McIlory, Frances Tiafoe at 2025 US Open
Carlos Alcaraz has a fresh cut for the 2025 US Open.
The 22-year-old Spaniard arrived in Queens on Monday with a dramatic haircut, sporting a buzzcut rather than the longer look he has worn for years, including last week at the Cincinnati Open.
While Alcaraz going for his second win at the US Open is the main storyline of the week, his new haircut has also been a topic of conversation. He even got some questions from fellow athletes.
Per ESPN's Anthony Gharib, golf star Rory McIlroy felt Alcaraz's head and asked, "Why this?"
"Just got a haircut that I struggled with," Alcaraz said to McIlroy. "I mean I had to start fresh."
Frances Tiafoe was straightforward when giving his thoughts about Alcaraz's new look.
"I mean, it's definitely terrible," Tiafoe said. "That's my guy though. It's funny, I looked at him and I was like, 'I guess you're aerodynamic...' But yeah, I don't know who told him that's good, I don't know who told him to do that, but it's terrible."
Alcaraz got some approval from the crowd after his win in the first round.
Whether fans, athletes or his competition approve of Alcaraz's haircut likely won't faze the star, and he'll look to put together a strong week at the US Open.
