Kurt Warner Says Shedeur Sanders Didn't Get Same Opportunities as Gabriel in Finale
A legendary former quarterback believes Cleveland Browns rookie Shedeur Sanders didn't get the same opportunity as Dillon Gabriel in the team's preseason finale.
Kurt Warner gave Gabriel his props, but said Sanders wasn't given a fair chance as the two continue battling out in Cleveland's quarterback room.
"I was really looking forward to the competition between Dillon Gabriel & Shedeur Sanders in last preseason game, I know it plays out like this sometimes, but a bummer that both didn't have the same opps to make plays!" Warner wrote on social media. "DG played well again but had good opps to make plays, SS didn't those same opps so it was hard to make much of an assessment!"

He added:
In a 19-17 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday, Gabriel threw for 129 yards and a touchdown on 12-of-19 passing. Sanders didn't see quite as many reps and completed three of his six passes for 14 yards. Joe Flacco, who has already been named the starter, saw a bit more action than Sanders, throwing for 71 yards and a touchdown on 9-of-10 passing.
Sanders squandered a few of his chances, taking five sacks for 41 yards lost.
While Warner and others believe Sanders might not be getting the same opportunities as other quarterbacks on the roster, the Browns' coaching staff is likely taking practices and scrimmages, as well as preseason matchups, into account, so Sanders will get more chances to showcase his abilities as the year goes on.
Flacco will begin the year under center, but Sanders will look to make the most of whatever opportunities come his way as he tries to earn a starting role.
