ESPYs Host Joel McHale Pokes Fun at Russell Wilson, Seahawks in Monologue

Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks were involved in the most talked-about play in sports over the past year. As a result, they were the subject of the first joke during the 2015 ESPYs on Wednesday.

ESPYs host Joel McHale wasted no time in poking fun at the Seahawks' decision to throw the football at the goal line—while trailing—in the final minute of Super Bowl XLIX. The result: a game-sealing, and championship-clinching, interception for the New England Patriots.

"Russell! Don't throw it, OK?" McHale exclaimed in reference to the microphone. "Just hand it to me. Seriously."

If only Wilson had followed that advice during the Super Bowl, perhaps the Seahawks would be back-to-back reigning champions.
