Tommy Fleetwood Hailed By LeBron James, Fans After TOUR Championship, FedEx Cup Wins
Tommy Fleetwood has finally done it.
The 34-year-old shot a 68 in the final round of the Tour Championship to claim the victory in the event.
Fleetwood had never won a PGA Tournament prior to Sunday despite consistently being a top finisher. With the win, he claims the $10 million purse and can etch his name in PGA Tour history.
Following the win, fans and fellow athletes took to social media to congratulate Fleetwood on finally making it over the hump.
With winning the Tour Championship, Fleetwood also claims the FedEx Cup victory. He shot 18-under overall and finished three strokes ahead of runner-ups Patrick Cantlay and Russell Henley.
Defending champion Scottie Scheffler finished tied for fourth at 14-under alongside Corey Conners and Cameron Young. Sam Burns, Keegan Bradley and Justin Thomas then rounded out the Top 10 at 13-under.
Fleetwood caps off a season in which he was a regular finisher towards the top but struggled to get it done. With a big weight off his shoulders, Fleetwood will now shift his focus towards helping Europe claim victory at the Ryder Cup.
