LeBron James, Caitlin Clark Hype Up Scheffler, Fleetwood Amid TOUR Championship Final

Tommy Fleetwood is still looking for the first victory of his PGA Tour career, and he has some famous supporters in his corner for Sunday's final round of the TOUR Championship.

After a quick start to his day, Fleetwood drew positive responses from basketball stars LeBron James and Caitlin Clark:

Fleetwood entered the day tied with Patrick Cantlay, but he quickly created separation with a birdie on the second hole. It wasn't just his birdie that created the gap, as Cantlay bogeyed the first and then double-bogeyed the second.

To Cantlay's credit, he bounced back with a birdie on the third hole to continue applying pressure to the leader. Russell Henley and Keegan Bradley were also in the mix in the early going with Scottie Scheffler lurking.

As Scheffler continued to climb the leaderboard, James later voiced his support for the four-time major winner:

While Scheffler's dominance has been the story of the PGA Tour season, Fleetwood's opportunity to finally break through was the story entering Sunday's final round.

That he has come so close in recent events only adds to the spotlight. In fact, the TOUR Championship represented the third time he found himself with at least a share of the 54-hole lead in the previous six events.

However, he lost on a two-shot swing on the final hole to Bradley at the Travelers Championship and then was unable to take advantage of a two-shot lead with three holes to play at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Despite the near misses, he has kept a positive attitude.

"That's what everybody wants," Fleetwood said, per Doug Ferguson of the Associated Press. "I am lucky enough that I get to be one of those guys, so I'm having the time of my life out there and I'm playing great and I've got to enjoy it while it's happening. You never know.

"Tomorrow might be my time, it might not, but I'll still have a great time doing it."

It's no wonder he has become such a fan favorite and has earned the support of James, Clark and so many others with that outlook.

The TOUR Championship would be quite the tournament to finally get his first victory as well considering it is for the FedEx Cup and a $10 million prize.
