Jalen Milroe's Potential Hyped by NFL Fans in Seahawks' Preseason Loss to Packers

Taylyn Hadley Aug 23, 2025

In Jalen Milroe's first full game with the Seattle Seahawks, the rookie quarterback showed flashes of potential in a 20–7 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Saturday in the preseason finale.

Milroe completed 13-of-24 passes for 148 yards and one touchdown while taking five sacks and committing three fumbles. He added seven carries for 31 yards.

The third-round pick out of Alabama had a rough start, fumbling twice in the first half — both leading to turnovers that set up scoring opportunities for Green Bay. He added a third fumble late in the fourth quarter. Seattle's ball security issues weren't limited to Milroe, as wide receiver Jake Bobo also lost a fumble, and Damarion Williams put the ball on the ground but managed to recover.

Milroe didn't lead a scoring drive until midway through the fourth quarter, when he capped a 57-yard march with a touchdown pass to Cody White to put Seattle on the board and cut the deficit to two scores.

His fumbles come with an asterisk, as he was working behind the Seahawks' third-string offensive line and trying to generate offense with a mix of second- and third-string receivers.

Fans were encouraged by the rookie's potential in his preseason finale on Saturday:

In his Seahawks debut against the Las Vegas Raiders — a 23-23 tie — Milroe threw for 61 yards on 60 percent passing and added 38 rushing yards on three carries. In Seattle's next game, a 33-16 win over Kansas City, he saw limited action, completing 3-of-5 passes for 46 yards and rushing five times for 18 yards.

The rookie quarterback showed flashes of promise Saturday but also revealed a need to improve his ball security — something he'll likely focus on while developing as the Seahawks' third-string quarterback behind Sam Darnold and Drew Lock.

The Seahawks will open their season against the San Francisco 49ers at home on Sept. 7.
