Cam Ward's Final Preseason Start Has Titans Fans Excited for Week 1 vs. Broncos

Cam Ward's final preseason start offered a glimpse of why he was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, as the rookie gave Tennessee Titans fans plenty to be excited about ahead of their Week 1 matchup against the Denver Broncos.

In a brief appearance Friday night against the Minnesota Vikings, Ward completed 3-of-4 passes for 36 yards over two possessions that began in the first quarter and extended into the second before he was pulled with the Titans leading 7-3.

Tennessee leaned heavily on its ground game during Ward's time under center. Julius Chestnut recorded five carries for 28 yards and a touchdown, while Kalel Mullings added five carries for 18 yards over the Titans' first two drives.

Prior to Friday, the rookie had thrown for 109 yards over his first two preseason games, completing 46.7 percent of his passes. Even with the limited time on the field on Friday, fans took to social media to share their excitement about Ward's regular-season debut

The Titans have been cautious with Ward's playing time, but the quarterback emphasized how important the preseason games have been ahead of his official NFL regular-season debut—and how crucial it was to close out Friday's game strong against the Vikings.

"I think it's real important, in terms of us playing at a high level, and making drives count, whether it's with six or three points," Ward said, per TennesseeTitans.com's Jim Wyatt. "And also, getting guys excited to play football. Having excitement on the sideline, and getting guys touches on the field, and at the end of the day, playing together. A lot of points can come from teams playing together, not playing selfish football. And I'm just glad that we have one of those teams that plays together."

Ward and the Titans will open their season against Bo Nix and the Broncos in Denver on Sept. 7.
