Jannik Sinner, Alcaraz, Gauff Top Sportico List of 2025's Highest-Paid Tennis Players
The list of highest-paid tennis players in 2025 has officially been unveiled with multiple recognizable names at the top.
Sportico revealed that World No. 1 Jannik Sinner edged out Carlos Alcaraz for the top spot by earning $52.3 million this year, slightly ahead of Alcaraz's $49 million. Coco Gauff was next on the list as the highest-paid women's tennis player at $35.2 million.
The full top 10 is as follows:
- Jannik Sinner, $52.3 million
- Carlos Alcaraz, $49 million
- Coco Gauff, $35.2 million
- Aryna Sabalenka, $25.4 million
- Novak Djokovic, $24.4 million
- Zheng Qinwen, $22.2 million
- Iga Swiatek, $21.9 million
- Frances Tiafoe, $14.1 million
- Alexander Zverev, $14 million
- Taylor Fritz, $13.9 million
Kurt Badenhausen of Sportico explained that the top 10 list was determined by prize money, endorsements, bonuses and appearance fees earned over the past 12 months. All figures are "based on Sportico estimates."
Sinner and Alcaraz have established themselves as the new faces of men's tennis following the Golden Era of stars Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, the latter of whom is still active and ranked fifth on the list with $24.4 million in total earnings. Djokovic is also the all-time leader in prize money with $189 million, ahead of Nadal ($135 million) and Federer ($131 million). No other men's player has earned over $100 million in prize money.
Sinner and Alcaraz have won the last seven Grand Slams between them and are the favorites to emerge victorious at the U.S. Open later this month. The two of them most recently met in the final of the Cincinnati Open this past weekend, with Alcaraz winning the title after Sinner was forced to retire mid-match.
Badenhausen noted that Gauff "is on track to be the world's highest-paid female athlete for the third straight year."
Gauff is one of four women in the top 10, highlighting how tennis is the only sport where women are paid on a similar scale to men. Five women also earned at least $10 million off the court through sponsors, compared to just four men who exceeded that figure.
Gauff won her second Grand Slam title this year when she was victorious at the French Open. The 2023 U.S. Open winner will be seeking another title at the tournament this month after disappointingly losing in the first round at Wimbledon earlier this summer.
