Angel Reese Returns from Back Injury for Sky vs. Storm After Missing 7 Games

Timothy RappAug 19, 2025

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese returned to game action on Tuesday night against the Seattle Storm for the first time in seven games.

While Reese had a solid individual performance in her return, the Sky fell to the Storm 94-88. Reese finished with 19 points, seven rebounds, four assists and one block.

The team was 1-6 without Reese, who was dealing with a back injury.

Reese returned to practice this weekend, and head coach Tyler Marsh told reporters at the time it felt like Reese hadn't missed a beat.

"She fit right in like she hadn't missed any time off," he said. "The chemistry's still there with her teammates, she picked up on the stuff that we're doing, picked up on the game plan going into tomorrow."

The 2025 season hasn't exactly gone to plan for the Sky, who came into Tuesday night just 8-25 on the season. Reese has been good when healthy, however, leading the team in scoring (14.2 PPG) and rebounding (12.6 RPG) while adding 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

Offensive efficiency has remained a work in progress, as Reese has shot 44.4 percent from the field—largely on attempts closer to the basket—and just 20 percent from three. But Reese is a major factor on both ends of the court, and clearly an important building block for the Sky going forward.

She's also one of the faces of the WNBA and will appear on the cover of NBA 2K26.

She's rated a 90 overall in the game, 10th among WNBA players. And now she's back in action for the Sky as they look to close out the final quarter of the season on a positive note.
